Delegate Assembly
Delegate Assembly brings South Dakota school boards together, collectively voicing their opinion on the direction ASBSD should take - particularly in the advocacy area.
The ASBSD Delegate Assembly is the body that adopts ASBSD resolutions, which work to form ASBSD's Legislative platform. Potential resolutions are sent in by member districts, or submitted by the Policy and Resolutions committee - a committee made up of four members of the ASBSD Board of Directors. Each member district in good standing is allowed one voting Delegate.
The 2009 ASBSD Delegate Assembly is scheduled for Nov. 20, 2009, in Pierre as part of the K-12 Education Policy Summit.

Pre-Delegate Assembly Packet
Prior to Delegate Assembly each year, ASBSD sends each school board president and superintendent a copy of the pre-Delegate Assembly information packet. The information contains the agenda and resources relevant to Delegate Assembly action items.
This packet is published online for information purposes only. It does not constitute final action of the Delegate Assembly. A final Delegate Assembly packet is delivered to each participant upon arrival.

New to the 2009 Delegate Assembly
Under the direction of the ASBSD Policy and Resolutions Committee, ASBSD is making a few changes to the 2009 Delegate Assembly to make the event more educational and more meaningful for delegates in attendance.
- This year, Delegates will spend considerably less time voting, and more time learning. By using "continuing resolutions" Delegates will vote on new resolutions only, and remove or change any of last year's resolutions as delegates see fit.
- With the time saved from taking "continuing resolutions", we will have issue-oriented debates to educate members about K-12 issues on the horizon.
Date, Time and Location
- Friday, November 20, 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Pierre Ramkota
Registration
- All delegates must be certified via the certification procedures outlined above.
- Delegates are encouraged to register for the K-12 Education Policy Summit, which includes the Leadership 2010 Forum and the ASBSD Leadership Conference (registration form)
